City of Pico Rivera (CA)

Developing organizational capacity through leadership training, staff coaching, team building, and facilitation of new strategic plan. Located southeast of Los Angeles, the City of Pico Rivera employs more than 300 people.

Burbank Chamber of Commerce

Providing leadership transition services, conducting a search for a new executive director, and developing a strategic plan. The Burbank Chamber is the largest chamber in the San Fernando Valley, representing approximately 1,000 member businesses with an estimated 33,000 employees.

Leadership Burbank

Facilitating leadership development program that is highly regarded in the City of Burbank as a pipeline of emerging community leaders. The program emphasizes public and private collaboration, and is itself a joint effort of the City of Burbank, Burbank Chamber of Commerce, Burbank Unified School District (BUSD), and Woodbury University.

City of Norco

Working with the city manager and other leadership to update existing strategic plan, including facilitating a workshop with the executive team and city council. Located in Riverside County, Norco, known as Horsetown USA, has approximately 27,000 residents.

Woodbury University

Facilitating leadership development academies for employees of the California cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena. The academies focus on leadership theory, ethics, organizational culture, communication, group dynamics, and organizational change.

StayWell

Conducting expert interviews, researching academic literature, and writing articles related to advances in health care. Published articles are targeted to health care professionals.

City of San Gabriel (CA)

A six-month process resulted in the development of the city’s first-ever mission statement, vision statement, and strategic plan. The mission, vision, and plan were developed through a series of sessions with the city manager, assistant city manager, mayor, and vice mayor, along with a stakeholder survey. The consultants also facilitated a capstone strategic planning retreat with the executive team and city council.

City of Rosemead (CA)

Facilitated two workshops with the executive team and city council that resulted in a strategic plan that provides guidance and direction for the City’s commissions, committees, and operating departments for 2014-2015.

San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (CA)

Worked with the executive director to develop a process for updating the existing strategic plan. A series of meetings with technical and advisory committees (TACs) and the city manager’s committee culminated with a full board retreat to update the plan. The SGVCOG is a joint powers authority of 31 incorporated cities, unincorporated communities in three Los Angeles County Supervisorial Districts, and three San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water Districts.

Community Foundation of the Verdugos

During a year-long process, worked with executive leadership and the board to build organizational capacity, develop executive and board leadership, and create the first strategic plan in 10 years. The Foundation supports the missions of nonprofit organizations in the Verdugo foothills region of greater Los Angeles (Glendale, Burbank, LaCañada-Flintridge).

Joint Commission

During a 15-year period, facilitated strategic communication processes and provided media relations counsel and project management. Projects included creation and launch of the award-winning Speak Up™ patient safety program; researched articles for publications such as the American College of Surgeons Bulletin and Journal of Nursing Care Quality, and Journal; crisis communications involving the Office of the Inspector General, 60 Minutes, and New York Times. The Joint Commission accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 hospitals, home care agencies, long term facilities, surgery centers, and other health care organizations in the United States.

Cymterix/Navigant Health Care

Researched and wrote expert roundtable white paper and other external documents exploring the issue of consumerism and health care payment reform. Conducted expert interviews with executive leadership at large hospitals and health systems to develop case studies highlighting success stories. Cymetrix is a national leader in comprehensive revenue cycle management.

Joint Commission Resources (JCR) and Joint Commission International (JCI)

Researched and wrote 17 academic-based, professional resource books about issues related to health care quality and patient safety. Edited five academic-based, professional resource publications about continuous systems improvement, infection control, suicide prevention, and Tdap vaccinations. JCR and JCI work to imprve patient safety and health care quality in more than 100 countries through education, publications, advisory services, and accreditation/services.

Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed)

Facilitated visioning and strategy board retreat, as well provided strategic communication counsel. BizFed is an alliance of 145 business groups representing 250,000-plus employers with more than 3 million employees in Los Angeles County.

City of Glendale (CA) Commission on the Status of Women

Facilitated a workshop with the commission and city’s executives, resulting in the adoption of a consensus-driven strategic plan. Also helped to guide the commission through a period of transition in its identity, mission, and scope of work.

Pacoima Development Federal Credit Union

Refined public identity, marketing, and branding of the organization, and developed the nonprofit’s first strategic plan in its nearly 10 years of existence.

Woodbury University

During a 15-year period, facilitated strategic communication processes and provided media relations counsel and project management. Projects included leadership transitions, working with the board and executive team to communicate and implement strategic initiatives, and writing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
